Skin Boosters

Skin boosters have become a widely used treatment in Singapore for individuals who want healthier, more radiant skin. Unlike traditional skincare products that only work on the skin’s surface, skin boosters deliver hydration and regenerative ingredients directly into the dermis. This helps to improve skin texture, elasticity, and overall skin quality from within.

At Mizu Aesthetic Clinic, we offer a comprehensive range of skin boosters – from hyaluronic acid–based treatments for hydration, to polynucleotide (PN) boosters such as salmon DNA that encourage repair and regeneration, and specialised boosters for specific concerns like acne scars and undereye rejuvenation. These treatments have grown in popularity as more people seek minimally invasive solutions to enhance their skin health and achieve a natural, youthful glow without altering facial features.

Types of Skin Boosters Available

Hyaluronic Acid Skin Boosters

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a naturally occurring substance in the body that attracts and retains water. These skin boosters use a stabilised form of hyaluronic acid to replenish moisture and restore smoothness and elasticity.

Delivered into the dermis, hyaluronic acid skin boosters act like a moisture reservoir, continuously drawing water to restore hydration, smoothness, and elasticity. They can also soften fine lines and improve overall radiance. HA skin boosters are often used for:

Polynucleotide (Salmon DNA) Skin Boosters

Polynucleotide (PN) skin boosters are derived from purified salmon DNA. Unlike HA boosters that focus mainly on hydration, polynucleotide treatments work at a cellular level to support skin regeneration and repair.

Polynucleotides activate fibroblasts in the skin, stimulating collagen and elastin production. They also help reduce oxidative stress, improve hydration, and restore the skin barrier. PN skin boosters are often used for:

Skin Boosters for Acne Scars

For acne scar treatment, a more concentrated and viscous form of polynucleotide (salmon DNA) skin boosters is used. Its thicker texture allows it to act like a filler, targeting depressed acne scars while simultaneously stimulating skin repair. However, unlike fillers that only add volume, skin boosters are designed to permanently remodel acne scars from within.

Over time, it helps remodel collagen in scarred areas, improving skin smoothness and reducing the depth of pitted scars. It is often used together with resurfacing treatments such as CO2 lasers or radiofrequency microneedling for optimal results.

Skin Boosters for Under-eye Rejuvenation

The delicate under-eye area is one of the first places to show signs of ageing, such as dark circles, fine lines, and hollowness. Both hyaluronic acid skin boosters and polynucleotide (salmon DNA) boosters may be used for under-eye rejuvenation.

  • Hyaluronic acid boosters help attract and retain water, improving hydration and softening the appearance of fine lines. By replenishing moisture, they can reduce the shadowing effect that contributes to dark eye circles.
  • Polynucleotide boosters work at a deeper, regenerative level. By stimulating collagen and elastin production, they improve skin thickness and resilience, which can help reduce the visibility of under-eye hollows and creases over time.

Depending on individual needs, patients may benefit from a tailored combination of these boosters to address both immediate hydration and long-term repair.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is the treatment performed?

A topical numbing cream is applied to ensure comfort. The solution is then injected into the dermis using fine, precise techniques. At Mizu, Dr Tan uses the manual injection technique to minimise product leakage, achieve even distribution and reduce downtime. LED light therapy may be added afterwards to support healing and results.

Most patients see results with 3 to 4 initial sessions, spaced about 3 to 4 weeks apart. Maintenance sessions are usually recommended once every 6 to 12 months.

Some patients may notice improvements such as smoother and more hydrated skin within days, while collagen remodelling and textural improvements become more apparent after a course of treatments.

Mild redness or small bumps may appear immediately after injections but generally resolve within 1 to 2 days. Most patients return to normal activities shortly after treatment.

We start ageing and losing collagen from our mid-twenties; hence, this treatment may be recommended for both men and women from their mid-twenties onwards. It is also suitable for people suffering from sunken acne scars and poor skin texture.
