There are many features of the nose to consider before shaping and augmentation should be done. The first thing that usually comes to our minds is; ‘I want higher nose’ or ‘I want a sharper nose.’
Let me explain and show what are the different facial angles and features that should be considered before any augmentation.
Our faces can be divided into horizontal thirds and vertical fifths
Ideally, for an aesthetically pleasing face, these divided portions of the face should be equal in width or length. Unequal size might result in asymmetry.
Facial fillers can be used to correct some asymmetry in the face, resulting in a more attractive shape aesthetically.
Nasofrontal angle
This is the angle that is most sought-after by many people, especially Asians, as it is the angle that determines the height of our nose-bridge. This angle is measured from the forehead to the top most ‘sunken’ part of the nose bridge to the tip of the nose. The angle formed should be ideally between 115-130 degrees. An angle of about 120-130 is most desirable for women while a more acute angle for men.
Nasofacial angle
This angle is defined by the angle between the line drawn from the forehead to the chin and the line from the top most ‘sunken’ part of the nose bridge to the tip of the nose. This angle should be ideally between 30-40 degrees. If you have a flat nose, this angle would be lesser than 30 degrees.
Nasomental angle
This angle is defined by the angle between the line drawn from the top most ‘sunken’ part of the nose bridge to the tip of the nose and the line from the tip of the nose to the chin. This angle should be between 120 – 132 degrees. If you have a flat nose or a recessed (inward) chin, this angle will fall outside of the ‘ideal’ range.
Nasolabial angle
This angle is defined by the angle at the base of the nose. An ideal angle of 90-120 degrees is desired. A wider angle of between 105-120 degrees is more favourable for women. A more acute angle of 90-100 is desirable for men.
This is the line drawn from the tip of the nose to the tip of the chin.
The upper lip should ideally be 4mm behind this line and the lower lip should ideally be 2mm behind this line.
A recessed (inward) chin or a flat nose will increase or decrease these measurements.

Round chin/face
A rounded chin/face can be augmented to shape a sharper and more feminine face. A sharper chin/face gives the
desired V-shaped contours. The jawline can also be easily slimmed down and made smoother with Botox and facial
fillers to give your face those V-shaped contours!
Cheeks
Higher cheek bones or fuller upper cheeks on you give structure to the face which is both desirable and feminine.
Higher upper cheeks also helps accentuate our other facial features and ‘lift’ the face giving us a more V-shaped look.
Ever thought of having a sharper nose?
Or a sharper chin?
Perhaps a slimmer face or the desired V-shaped face?
