At Mizu Aesthetic, we use the Dermaceutic Milk Peel for the treatment of clogged pores, dull skin, and inflammatory acne.
What is the Milk Peel?
The Milk Peel is a superficial peel and consists of blend of glycolic, salicylic and lactic acids with pH value around 1.9. It is recommended for fine lines reduction, skin lightening, oily skin regulation and acne treatment. At our clinic, it is mainly used for oil control, acne treatment, and dull skin.
How does it work?
First, the face is prepared and cleansed with Dermaceutic cleansing foam. The peel chemicals are then applied to the skin. Your skin will likely feel warm and a stinging sensation may be present in addition to your skin turning pink. This peel will usually be left on the skin for anywhere between 2-3 minutes.
Chemical peels remove the outer skin layers through a process called ‘keratolysis’.
Keratolysis means ‘the loosening and shedding of the outer layer of the skin, which may occur normally by exfoliation or induced chemically in which the skin is shed at periodic intervals’.
Chemical peel agents, such as glycolic and salicylic acids, are applied on the surface of the skin – they then penetrate through the skin layers to break up skin cells, causing the outer layer of skin cells to ‘fall off’ or peel. This causes the skin to renew itself to achieve a more even tone and a radiant complexion.
The Milk Peel can be applied every 1-2 weeks until desired results are achieved. While the recommended wait time between procedures is two weeks, those with severe acne can undergo this treatment every 7 – 10 days.
Who will this benefit?
The Milk Peel will benefit patients with;
- Clogged pores and blackheads:
The Milk Peel dislodges clogged pores and blackheads to prevent inflammation and acne.
- Pimples and acne:
The acids in the Milk Peel dries up exisiting inflammatory acne and at the same time kills P.acne bacteria that causes acne.
- Oily skin:
Patients with oily skin who wishes for oil control can benefit from the Milk Peel as it helps regulate oil production while drying up excess sebum.
When should one expect results?
This will depend on the skin condition that you are attempting to treat and the severity of the skin damage. For example, if you are receiving the peel for blackhead improvement, you will need about 2 – 3 sessions. However, for moderate acne, you may likely need about six treatments – more if your acne is very severe.
Will the treatment be painful?
Patients undergoing chemical peels procedures usually feel a tingling, stinging sensation due to the acid the peel is applied. However, this sensation is short-lived and last about 30 seconds.
Will there be downtime?
It has zero to minimal down time with some pinkish for patients with moderate acne. It is suitable for all skin types.
