What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are a gel-like soft tissue filler injected into the skin. It can help with many things, including facial augmentation, diminishing facial lines and also restoring the volume and fullness in the face.

Are there different kinds of fillers?

Fillers are differentiated by their density.

High Density Fillers
Fillers with a higher density are more effective for creating volume. Therefore we use high density fillers for volumizing deeper facial contours, such as the cheeks, nose and chin.
Low Density Fillers
Fillers with lower density are more effective for superficial injections, such as treatments for depressed acne scars or fine wrinkles.

Will the treatment be painful?

The area to be treated will be numbed with a topical anaesthetic cream and a cold pack 10 – 20 minutes before the injections are given, so pain is minimal.

The many uses of dermal fillers

  • Facial Augmentation (Nose, Cheeks, Chin)
  • Enhance shallow contours
  • Soften facial creases and wrinkles
  • Improve the appearance of recessed scars

 Did you know?

Some fillers can even stimulate collagen production in our skin, resulting in plumper and fuller skin. They can also aid in reducing the appearance of dark eye circles.

Dermal fillers and anti-aging

Facial fillers are very helpful if you struggle with early signs of aging, or as a value-added part of facial rejuvenation:

  • Filling in wrinkles
  • Improving imperfections like scars
  • Filling out thin or wrinkled lips
  • Plumping up the cheek
  • Contouring the jaw and other areas of the face

Popular areas for fillers

Nose

A flat nose bridge, a rounded tip, or a less-defined nose can all be easily corrected with a nose filler. A higher G-prime filler (creates more lift and contours) such as Belotero Intense, Restylane Perlane/SubQ, or Radiesse is what we usually use for a nose filler for a more defined nose bridge to enhance your facial contours.

Cheeks

Loss in volume in our cheeks tends to make us look older as our face sags downwards. Cheek fillers can be used for higher cheek contours to restore youthfulness or to create a more feminine appearance.

Fillers used for the cheeks depends on how much lift or volume is required or desired. Fillers such as Restylane Perlane, Belotero Intense, Sculptra, or Ellanse can all give a very nice lifting effect to varying extent.

Chin

A sharper face has been the fad these days. Combined with Botox jaw reduction, a chin filler can be used to achieve a sharper, V-shaped face.

Those with a recessed chin(chin lacking in volume) can also benefit from a chin filler to improve chin volume and achieve a fuller, more contoured look.

Fillers used for chin include Radiesse, Belotero Intense, and Restlyane SubQ.

Laugh lines

Deep laugh lines make us look like we have aged overnight. Filling up these lines tend to take years off our age and make us look much younger.

Depending on how much fillers are needed, laugh lines can be filled with Restylane Perlane, Sculptra, Ellanse, or Revanesse Ultra.

Temples and forehead

Loss of volume due in the temples and forehead due to aging results in a shrivelled look. A fuller, contoured face with volume replenished at the temples or forehead results in a younger appearance.

Fillers used are usually Restylane Perlane or Vital, Revanesse Ultra, Belotero Intense or Balance.

SkinBoosters
